Total Hip Replacement Rehabilitation
Progressive hip replacement recovery with strength tracking, gait analysis, and functional milestones.
Moving Better After Total Hip
A total hip replacement removes pain. What comes next determines whether you get back to the life you want. At Forward, we build your recovery around your specific goals and your specific surgery — because surgical approach changes everything about rehab progression.
Return+ Total Hip Protocol
Our Return+ total hip protocol tracks recovery across seven phases through your one-year mark. We measure hip strength in five planes — abduction, flexion, extension, internal and external rotation — plus ROM symmetry, gait quality, balance, and the HOOS JR outcome score. Every phase has clear benchmarks.
What We Measure
- Hip strength — five-plane dynamometry with limb symmetry tracking
- Range of motion — flexion, extension, abduction, rotation symmetry
- Gait assessment — quality scoring, speed, compensatory patterns
- Balance — single-leg stance, Four Square Step Test
- HOOS JR — validated hip function score
- Floor transfers — independence getting up and down safely
Coordinating with Your Surgical Team
Anterior, posterior, SuperPATH — precautions and timelines differ by approach. We coordinate with your surgeon and adjust your program accordingly. And we send them the data to prove it’s working.
