Meniscus Rehabilitation
Meniscus repair and meniscectomy recovery with objective strength and function tracking.
Repair vs. Trim — Different Rehab
Meniscus rehabilitation depends entirely on what your surgeon did. A repair requires weeks of protected weight-bearing and restricted ROM. A meniscectomy allows faster progression. At Forward, we build your program around your procedure and tissue status — not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Return+ Meniscus Protocol
Our Return+ meniscus protocol tracks recovery across three stages — from six weeks through six months. We measure quad and hamstring strength symmetry, knee ROM, functional performance, and the KOOS outcome score. Each stage has clear benchmarks that determine when you progress.
What We Measure
- Quad & hamstring strength — dynamometry with limb symmetry index
- Knee ROM — flexion and extension vs. uninvolved side
- Effusion monitoring — girth measurements tracking swelling
- KOOS — Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score
- Functional tests — step-down quality, gait, single-leg stance
Protecting What’s Left
After meniscectomy, the remaining meniscus and cartilage need smart loading. We build strength and movement efficiency to reduce joint stress — not just for the next few months, but for the next few decades.
