Forward Capacity 55+

A group training program for adults who refuse to slow down.

Forward Capacity 55+ is a twice-weekly group class led by a Doctor of Physical Therapy. It is not a chair exercise class. It is not gentle stretching. It is real training designed to maintain and restore your ability to move at a high level for the rest of your life.

Getting on and off the floor. Jumping. Jogging. Lifting and carrying heavy things. Building the aerobic capacity to sustain it all. These are the abilities that predict independence, prevent falls, and determine quality of life as you age. We train every one of them.

What We Train

  • Strength and power. Progressive resistance training — squats, deadlifts, presses, carries. The same movements used in our osteoporosis bone loading program, scaled to each individual.
  • Aerobic capacity. Rowers, echo bikes, ski ergs, treadmill work. Intensity programmed using ventilatory thresholds from the Talk Test protocol — not guesswork.
  • Balance and fall prevention. Progressive balance training from tandem stance through reactive perturbation drills. Falls are the leading cause of injury-related death in older adults. Balance is trainable.
  • Floor transfers. Getting down to the ground and back up. Independently. Confidently. This is one of the strongest predictors of longevity and one of the first abilities people lose when they stop training it.
  • Impact loading. Jumping, landing, heel drops. Bone responds to load. Walking is not enough. The research is clear — high-intensity loading at 85%+ of max is what drives bone density improvements.

Led by a Doctor of Physical Therapy

Every class is instructed by a DPT. Not a personal trainer. Not a fitness instructor. A clinician who understands pathology, load management, exercise progression, and when to push versus when to modify. The same clinical rigor we bring to our one-on-one rehabilitation applies here.

Programming is built on the same evidence-based principles that power our Return+ testing platform and our osteoporosis bone loading protocol. This is exercise science applied to group training at the highest level.

Who It Is For

Men and women 55 and older who want the highest quality group training available. You do not need to be an athlete. You do not need prior experience. You need to be willing to work and committed to maintaining your ability to move well for the long haul.

Whether you are active and want to stay that way, recovering from an injury and ready to build back, or looking for something more serious than what your gym offers — this is it.
